Day 37Mornings with God

God in the Midst of the Day

God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

Psalm 46:5

"That right early" — what an image for a morning devotional. It is exactly now, in this very moment when the day is opening up, that God acts. Not when everything is already resolved. At the beginning, while it's still early, while you're still gathering your strength.

The Psalm speaks of a city that will not be moved — not because it has no enemies, not because there are no storms. But because God is in the midst of it. The presence of God is what turns uncertain ground into solid footing.

And God is in the midst of your day too. In the middle of the meetings and the tasks. In the middle of the hard conversations and the decisions that need to be made. Not watching from a distance — in the midst. Present, active, helping.

Carry this into your day: you are not walking through today's hours alone. The same God who would not let that city fall will be at the center of everything you live through today.

Prayer

Father, may I remember throughout the day that You are in the midst of everything. In moments of pressure, help me breathe and trust that You have not abandoned me. Amen.
