Day 33Mornings with God

Courage to Begin

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Joshua 1:9

Some days the hard part isn't finishing — it's starting. Getting out of bed when exhaustion still weighs you down. Facing the conversation you've been putting off. Taking the first step onto a path that scares you.

God told Joshua: be strong and courageous. But notice — He didn't say that because the road ahead would be easy. The Jordan was still in front of him, the heavily fortified cities were still standing. God said it because His presence made all the difference.

And that same presence is with you this morning.

It doesn't matter what's waiting for you on the other side of that door — the difficult job, the complicated relationship, the financial uncertainty, the frightening diagnosis. You will not walk into this day alone. The God who was with Joshua, who guided him through every step, is with you now.

Courage doesn't come from not feeling afraid. It comes from taking the step even while you feel it. And God will meet you along the way.

Prayer

God, today I need courage. Remind me, hour by hour, that You are with me. Let me not need to feel Your presence in order to trust that it's there. Give me the strength to begin. Amen.
