Day 23 — Mornings with God
Leaving What's Behind
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:13-14
Paul wrote this from a prison. Not from comfort. Not from the life he always wanted. From a cell.
And he made a choice: one thing. Let go of what was behind. Move forward.
It's not easy. There are things left behind that we keep mentally revisiting every morning. The mistake that keeps resurfacing. The version of yourself you should have been. What could have been different if you'd chosen another path.
Paul says: forget. Not in the sense of pretending it didn't happen — but of not letting the past dictate the future. Of not standing still looking back while God is in front of you pointing forward.
This morning is new. You don't have to carry yesterday into it.
What do you need to let go of today? What is weighing on you and holding you in a place you no longer want to be?
Name it. And then open your hand.
Prayer
God, help me let go. There are things I'm carrying that should have been left behind already. Today I choose to move forward — not because I am strong, but because You are before me. Amen.
