Day 22 — Mornings with God
The Lord Rejoices Over You
“The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17
Stop everything and read this again.
The Lord rejoices over you. Rejoices. With delight. Sings over you.
That's not the image of a distant God, arms crossed, disappointed by everything you haven't done. It's a God who sings — over you. Who rejoices — in you.
Sometimes our image of God is too shaped by how much we think we've disappointed Him. And then we arrive at the morning with that feeling of "one more day trying not to fail."
But Zephaniah shows us something different. A God who doesn't wait for you to be perfect to rejoice. Who is already rejoicing right now.
You are reason for joy to the God of the universe. That doesn't change based on yesterday's mistakes or this week's failures.
Receive this morning as a gift. Don't analyze it. Don't question whether you deserve it. Just receive it.
God sings over you. And today is one more day that this is true.
Prayer
Lord, it's hard to believe that You sing over me. But I choose to receive this truth today. Thank You for loving me not for what I do, but for who I am. Amen.
