Day 18Mornings with God

Do Not Remember the Former Things

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Isaiah 43:18-19

God is doing something new. And sometimes we miss it because we're looking too hard at what was.

The mistakes of the past. The decades "wasted." The relationship that didn't work out. The version of me I wanted to be and wasn't.

God says: "Do not remember." It's not pretending to forget — it's releasing with intention. It's deciding that the past will not define what this new day can be.

"Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth." Now. This morning. This new chance at a day that hasn't existed yet.

A way in the wilderness. A river in the desert. God specializes in doing things where there seem to be no conditions for anything. Where you see impossibility, He sees material.

What in your life feels like a desert today? What seems too dry to sprout?

God is there. Doing something you can't yet see. But it will spring forth.

Prayer

God, I let go of what's behind me. I won't pretend it didn't hurt — but I choose not to stay stuck in it. Open my eyes to the new thing You are doing right now. Amen.
