Day 15Mornings with God

This Day Is a Gift

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 118:24

Today. This day. The one being born right now as you hold this book and your coffee is still warm.

The psalmist doesn't say "this will be an easy day" or "this will be a day without problems." He says: "this is the day the LORD has made." And that's reason enough for joy.

God made this day specifically. It's not an accident that you woke up today. It's not an accident that the sun rose, that the air is here, that your heart is beating. God built this day — and handed it to you.

But joy isn't automatic, is it? Most mornings begin with a list of worries, not gratitude. The money problem, the health that worries you, the relationship that hurts.

All of that is real. God doesn't ask you to pretend everything is fine.

But He does ask for an act of faith: "Even so, I will rejoice." Not because circumstances give me reason to, but because the God who made this day is greater than anything this day carries.

Rejoice. Today. Even so.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for this day. I don't know what it holds, but I know You made it. Help me receive it with joy — not because of the problems I don't have, but because of the presence I do have. Amen.
