Day 45 — Healing for the Heart
Hope Does Not Disappoint
“And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts.”
Romans 5:5
Waiting hurts, especially when we've already waited so long and been disappointed so many times. Maybe you're afraid to hope again — afraid to believe things can get better only to be broken once more. But there's a kind of hope that "does not disappoint," that doesn't shame you, that won't let you down: hope anchored not in circumstances, but in the love of God. The hopes that disappoint are the ones we place in people, in plans, in this world's guarantees. Hope in God is different, because He is faithful. Choosing hope again isn't being naive or bracing for another letdown; it's trusting the One who never fails. Today, make room, even a small one, for hope to be born again in your heart. Not the foolish hope that nothing will ever hurt again, but the steady hope that God will sustain you through everything. This hope does not disappoint. You can trust it.
Prayer
Lord, I'm afraid to hope and be disappointed again. But the hope that comes from You does not fail. Birth in me a steady hope, anchored in Your love. Amen.
