Day 39 — Healing for the Heart
Finding God in the Small Mercies
“It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed... they are new every morning.”
Lamentations 3:22-23
When we're waiting for all the pain to pass at once, we stop noticing the small mercies God scatters along the way. Today, train a new way of seeing. Healing rarely comes as one great miracle overnight; it usually arrives in small things: a night when you slept better, a moment when you laughed without feeling guilty, a warm cup of coffee, an unexpected hug, sunlight on your skin. These are mercies "new every morning" — small proofs that God is caring for you even on the hard days. Noticing them isn't pretending everything is fine; it's choosing to stop staring only at what's missing and starting to see what God is already giving. The psalmist discovered this in the depths of sorrow: what keeps us from being consumed is God's daily mercy. Today, before you go to sleep, find just one. It was there.
Prayer
Lord, open my eyes to the small mercies I overlook. Thank You for the care hidden in the little things. Renew me every morning. Amen.
