Day 28Healing for the Heart

Forgiving Yourself

For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

1 John 3:20

Sometimes the hardest person to forgive is yourself. You replay what you did, what you failed to do, the words you said or held back, and your heart condemns you without pause. Guilt becomes a voice that never gives you rest. But hear this liberating truth: God is greater than your heart. When your conscience accuses you without mercy, God offers mercy instead. If He, who knows everything — including what you hide — chose to forgive you, who is your heart to condemn you more than He does? You don't have the right to charge yourself a debt that God has already decided to forgive. Carrying guilt that God has already removed is refusing the gift He gave you. Today, let God's mercy silence the voice that accuses you. If God has forgiven you, you also have permission to forgive yourself.

Prayer

Father, my heart won't stop accusing me. But You are greater than it is. I receive Your forgiveness and give myself permission to let go of the guilt. Set me free, Lord. Amen.
