Day 25 — Healing for the Heart
Letting Go of the Weight That Hurts You
“Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger... be put away from you... and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another.”
Ephesians 4:31-32
Maybe someone hurt you in a way that still stings to remember. And it's fair to say: the pain they caused you was real, and God sees it. Talking about forgiveness here isn't saying that what they did to you didn't matter — it did. Forgiving also isn't pretending it never happened, or letting that person hurt you again. Forgiveness is, above all, a gift you give yourself: it's letting go of the chain that binds you to what wounded you. Bitterness is a poison we drink thinking it will hurt the other person, but it's our own heart that gets sick. You don't have to carry this anger forever — it's too heavy for a heart that's already tired. Today, without rushing, begin handing over to God what was done to you. Not to forget, but to be set free.
Prayer
Lord, I bring to You what wounded me. You saw it, and it hurt. Help me let go of the bitterness weighing on me — not for the other person's sake, but for my own peace. Amen.
