Day 23 — Healing for the Heart
Sorrow Is Not a Lack of Faith
“Jesus wept.”
John 11:35
The shortest verse in the Bible carries one of the greatest comforts. Standing before the tomb of a friend, knowing He would raise him minutes later, Jesus wept. The very Son of God, full of faith and power, wept in the face of loss. This settles, once and for all, a lie that may be accusing you: that crying is a sign of little faith. If it were, Jesus wouldn't have cried. Pain and faith live together in the same heart; one doesn't cancel out the other. You can believe firmly in God and grieve a loss deeply. Both things are true at the same time. Jesus doesn't ask you to pretend it doesn't hurt. He weeps with you. Today, if the tears come, let them come without guilt. You are in the holiest of company. The God who wipes away tears also knows how to shed them.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for weeping Yourself. My tears don't disappoint You. Weep with me, and in Your time, wipe my face. Amen.
