Day 86Strength for Mothers

Fruit in Its Season

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven... so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth.

Isaiah 55:11

There's a seasonality to motherhood that no one quite explains to us. There are seasons for planting and seasons for harvesting, and they rarely line up with our plans. You may have planted a great deal and still be living through a long season of waiting.

But ripe fruit tastes different from fruit picked too early. What matures in its proper time is sweeter, more nourishing, more real. And God is a God of perfect timing — not fast timing, but perfect timing.

If you're waiting to see the fruit of what you've sown in your children, don't mistake the silence for an absence of results. The seeds are in the soil. The root is growing downward before it grows upward. What seems invisible now will appear.

Be patient with the process. God is at work — inside your children, inside you, inside the story of your family. The fruit is coming. In due time, it comes.

Prayer

Lord, give me patience to wait for Your timing. May I not give up trusting while the fruit has not yet appeared. Amen.
