Day 78 — Strength for Mothers
The Word Does Not Return Void
“For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
Isaiah 55:10-11
Every time you read a verse to your children, every time you prayed out loud near them, every time you spoke the name of God in the routine of your home — none of that vanished into thin air. God's Word has a different property: it works wherever it goes. It does not return void.
Maybe you don't see the effect now. Maybe your child seemed like they weren't even paying attention. But the seed of the Word is inside them, working quietly, like rain that soaks into the ground and revives what was dry.
You don't have to be a preacher to sow the Word. Just live it out with honesty. Just mention God in the ordinary conversations of the day. Just pray with your children, even when they resist. Even when it seems pointless.
God's Word is effective. It accomplishes the purpose for which it was sent. And the God who sent that Word also sent His Son — and He knows your child's name.
Prayer
Lord, may the Word I have sown into my children's lives bear fruit in Your time. I believe it will not return void. Amen.
