Day 77Strength for Mothers

Tears Turned Into Song

They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Psalm 126:5-6

There's an image in this verse that moves me: the farmer who goes out to the field weeping, seed in hand, but goes out anyway. He doesn't wait to stop crying before he plants. He weeps and plants at the same time.

How many times have you been like that? Caring for your children in the middle of exhaustion. Praying with your eyes full of tears. Continuing to love even when you were at your limit. That is practical faith — not the faith that waits for perfect conditions, but the faith that acts in the middle of hardship.

And the promise: "shall reap in joy." The same person who went out weeping comes back singing. The same hand that sowed in pain will harvest in joy. That's not a guarantee it will be easy — it's a guarantee that the ending is good.

If you have been sowing with tears in raising your children, know this: the joy is coming. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but God is faithful to His own promise. The harvest arrives.

Prayer

Father, I have been sowing with tears. But I trust Your promise of joy. Sustain me until the day of harvest. Amen.
