Day 64Strength for Mothers

A Difficult Child, a Broken Heart

The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Psalm 34:18

Maybe you're reading this with a weight on your chest that few people understand. Maybe your child is going through something you can't fix. Maybe he has made choices that broke your heart. Maybe you've prayed and prayed and still haven't seen an answer.

This verse was written for you today.

"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart." Not to those who have it all together. Not to those who've already worked everything out. To those whose hearts are broken. God is not far from your pain — He is inside it, close to you, closer than you realize.

Having a difficult child is not a sign that you failed. It's a sign that you love. And the love you feel for that child, as intense as it is, is only a reflection of the love God feels for him. He wants that child back far more than you think. Keep praying. Keep loving. You are not alone in this battle.

Prayer

God, my heart is broken. But I know You are near. Watch over my child where I cannot reach. I will not give up believing. Amen.
