Day 62 — Strength for Mothers
From Her Arms to Letting Go
“He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.”
Isaiah 40:11
There's a season of motherhood no one really warns you about: the season of letting go. In the beginning, they fit in your arms. Then come school, friends, the secrets they start keeping to themselves. And one day you realize the same child who used to sleep in your lap now needs space to become who he is.
It hurts. Even when it's healthy, it hurts.
But look at the beautiful image this verse gives us: God as a shepherd who carries the lambs in his bosom. He is not a distant shepherd. He is near, tender, and He carries the ones who are still small. And the older ones? He cares for them too — differently, but He cares.
Letting go is not abandoning. It's trusting that the same God who was with you through the years of holding them close is still with them now, in the space they need. You are passing the baton into hands far bigger than your own.
Prayer
Father, help me let go without pulling away. To give space without letting go of my grip on You. May I trust that You carry my children where I cannot reach. Amen.
