Day 52 — Strength for Mothers
Enough for Today
“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
Matthew 6:34
A mother who worries about everything that could go wrong in the future is a mother who will burn out before her time. Jesus was very practical in this verse: enough for today. Not for the whole week. Not for the whole year. For today. God didn't give you grace for tomorrow, because you don't need it yet. When tomorrow comes, grace will come with it. What you have right now is enough for right now. This simple truth can set you free from an enormous amount of anxiety. You don't have to solve everything today. You don't need answers to questions that haven't arrived yet. You don't need to know right now how things will look ten years from now. You need to be faithful today. You need to trust today. And that, with God's help, you can do.
Prayer
Father, I release tomorrow. Help me live this day well, with my children, with the grace You've already given me for today. May tomorrow's anxiety not steal today's peace. Amen.
