Day 49 — Strength for Mothers
The Face That Shines
“They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.”
Psalm 34:5
Shame is one of the heaviest things a mother carries. Shame of not measuring up, of not being enough, of having flaws that other people don't have — or at least don't seem to. But this verse speaks of something powerful: when you look to God, your face is not ashamed. Shame loses its power before Him. He doesn't look at you with disappointment. He looks at you with love. The same love that looked at the bent-over woman, at the prodigal son, at Peter after his denial. That look from God is what straightens you out. When you spend time in His presence, something in your face changes. The tension of shame goes away. What remains is the peace of someone who knows she is truly loved, with nothing left to prove.
Prayer
Lord, may I seek Your face more than people's approval. When I look to You, may my shame dissolve. May Your light shine on my face and on this mother's heart. Amen.
