Day 4 — Strength for Mothers
Before You Are a Mother, You Are a Daughter
“And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”
Galatians 4:6-7
Before you are anyone's mother, you are a daughter of God. That order matters. Because when motherhood weighs heavy — and sometimes it weighs very heavy — your deepest identity isn't "so-and-so's mom." It's daughter of the Father.
Heir. Loved without having to earn it. Close to Him without having to strive to get there.
When the day closes and you feel you got more wrong than right, when guilt knocks on the door with a list of everything you missed, you can breathe and remember: you're not dealing with a boss keeping track of your mistakes. You're standing before a Father who knows you, who sent the Spirit of the Son to live in you, who calls you His heir.
That is the foundation of your life as a mother. Not your competence — His grace. Not what you produce — what He has already done.
You can give love because you were loved first. And that changes everything.
Prayer
Father, may I never forget that before any role I fill, I am Your daughter. May that love be the source from which I care, serve, and love. Amen.
