Day 24Strength for Mothers

Waiting in Hope

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31

Waiting is one of the hardest things about a life of faith. Especially when you're waiting for a child who seems far from God. Or for a situation that won't change. Or for a marriage that hasn't come yet, or for healing that keeps being delayed.

A mother's waiting has a dimension all its own. She waits for answers that involve her children's hearts — and that has no deadline.

But Isaiah says that those who wait upon the Lord — not on outcomes, not on circumstances, but on Him — renew their strength. Like eagles. They run and do not grow weary. They walk and do not faint.

This isn't a denial of the process. It's a promise of sustenance within it. You can wait and be sustained at the same time. Waiting doesn't have to wear you down — it can be a school, it can be intimacy with God, it can be the place where faith grows.

Today, instead of fighting the wait, step into it with God. He renews what waiting would otherwise deplete.

Prayer

God, renew my strength while I wait. Let waiting not wear me down, but draw me closer to You. Let me mount up with wings, even on the slowest days. Amen.
