Day 87Marriage Devotional

A Home of Peace

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:7

Peace within a home is a priceless gift. Not the superficial peace of never arguing — but the deep peace of two people who trust God, who know Who sustains their home, who can sleep in peace because they aren't carrying it alone.

That peace doesn't come from the absence of problems. It comes from the presence of God. It's a peace that "passes all understanding" — that doesn't make sense in light of circumstances, but exists anyway. Because God gives it, not circumstances.

You can choose to bring peace into your marriage today. Not the forced peace of ignoring what hurts, but the real peace of bringing everything to God in prayer and letting Him guard your heart.

A heart guarded by God speaks differently, reacts differently, loves differently. And a home where two such hearts dwell together — that's a blessing few understand from the outside, but that you know from within.

Prayer

Lord, be the source of peace in our home. Guard our hearts and minds in You. When the doors close and it's just the two of us, let there be peace — Your peace — in our midst. Amen.
