Day 85Marriage Devotional

The Vine and the Children

Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house:

Psalm 128:3a

There's a beautiful image in Psalm 128: the person as a fruitful vine. A vine doesn't bear fruit without care, without sun, without deep roots. But when well tended, it makes the home abundant.

You are that vine in your home. Not in the sense of perfection, but of living presence. What you carry — faith, love, peace, joy — overflows into your marriage, into your children, into the atmosphere of the house. You matter more than you think.

And just as the vine needs care to bear fruit, you also need to be cared for. By God, first of all. Through moments of silence with Him, through the Word that nourishes you, through prayer that roots you deep. When you are well in God, you have more to give.

Care for yourself the way you care for your marriage. Your spiritual health is the soil from which the fruit grows.

Prayer

Lord, I want to be a fruitful presence in my home. Tend my roots — my life with You — so that what overflows into my marriage is life, peace, and love. Amen.
