Day 84 — Marriage Devotional
Growing Old Together
“Rejoice with the wife of thy youth... and be thou ravished always with her love.”
Proverbs 5:18b-19b
There is something deeply beautiful about the idea of growing old together. Two people who started out young and made their way through the decades — each one with its own challenges and gifts — and arrived at the last years still holding hands.
That doesn't happen by accident. It happens through choices repeated year after year. Through love cultivated when it was easy and when it was hard. Through forgiveness given and received. Through God at the center when the center wanted to give way.
Where are you today in your marriage? At the beginning, in the middle, already on the home stretch of a long journey? Wherever you stand, the decision is the same: keep choosing. Keep cultivating. Keep seeking God together.
The verse in Proverbs speaks of being ravished with love always. The love God wants for marriage has no expiration date. How beautiful to think that the love you are building today can last forever.
Prayer
Father, I want to grow old beside my spouse with love and gratitude. Help us choose each other in every season of life, and may our covenant shine brighter the more time passes. Amen.
