Day 65Marriage Devotional

Blessed Is the One Who Perseveres

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

James 1:12

Staying is an act of faith. In a world that glorifies the easy way out, choosing to remain — even when it's hard, even when love feels cold, even when you're exhausted — is an act that God sees and values.

Persevering in marriage isn't pretending everything is fine. It's saying, "This is hard, but I'm not giving up." It's seeking help when you need it. It's returning to the conversation that hurt feelings interrupted. It's praying for your spouse when you don't feel like it. It's choosing the bond even when the feeling wavers.

James speaks of a crown of life — not as a prize for whoever suffered the most, but for the one who never let go of God's hand along the way. There is an approval that comes on the other side of perseverance, and it transforms both the person and the marriage.

Are you persevering? That is more valuable than it seems. God is with you in that choice.

Prayer

Father, give me strength to persevere. On the days when I want to give up, remind me that You are faithful and that what we are building is worth it. Sustain our marriage with Your grace. Amen.
