Day 62Marriage Devotional

Refuge in the Storm

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Psalm 46:1

There are crises that arrive without warning. A phone call that changes everything, news that freezes the air around you, a moment when you and your spouse look at each other without knowing what to say. In those instants, the temptation is to panic or to shut yourself away.

But Psalm 46 says something that needs to settle in your heart today: God is a very present help. Not distant, not busy, not hard to reach — present. Right now. In this situation that feels too big for the two of you.

A marriage in the storm needs a third place to land: not fear, not fighting, but God. When you run to Him together, something changes. The crisis doesn't disappear, but you are no longer alone inside it.

Today, if your heart feels heavy, carry it to the only refuge that truly holds you up. And invite your spouse to come along. There is something sacred about two people seeking the same God in the middle of the same storm.

Prayer

Father, You are our refuge. When distress comes and our strength fails, may our first instinct be to run to You. Be the center of our marriage, especially on the days when everything feels unstable. Amen.
