Day 61Marriage Devotional

The House That Does Not Fall

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

Matthew 7:24

Have you ever looked at your marriage and wondered, "What holds us up when everything is shaking?" It isn't the beauty of the early years, and it isn't the absence of problems — it's the foundation. When a couple builds on the Word of God, the storms pass, but the house remains standing.

And storms come. They come as disagreements we never expected, as tight financial situations, as exhaustion that dims the light in our eyes. No marriage is immune. But there is a world of difference between a house that is shaken and a house that is torn down.

You and your spouse are building today. Every time you choose to listen to God together, every time you open the Bible at the table, every time you pray before falling asleep — you are laying another stone in the foundation. That doesn't stop the rain, but it stops the collapse.

Trust this: the rock beneath you is more solid than any storm that comes knocking at your door.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for being the rock of our marriage. Help us to build on Your Word, day after day, choice after choice. When the storms come, may our house remain standing because it is founded on You. Amen.
