Day 55 — Marriage Devotional
Unashamed Before One Another
“And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.”
Genesis 2:25
Genesis describes the garden before the fall — and one of the most beautiful things it records is that they were naked and felt no shame. It isn't just about the body. It's about total intimacy: being fully seen by the other and not being afraid. That's the dream of marriage — a place where you can be fully yourself, with your insecurities, your fears, your middle-of-the-night thoughts, your wild dreams — and feel no shame. Where he too can be weak, uncertain, imperfect — and feel no shame. That mutual vulnerability is the deepest level of true partnership. It's built through safety, through trust, through the care of never using what the other has shared with you as a weapon. That's what you want to cultivate with your spouse.
Prayer
Lord, may our marriage be a safe place for both of us. May I never use my spouse's vulnerabilities to hurt him, and may he take care of mine. May we be completely ourselves with one another. Amen.
