Day 46 — Marriage Devotional
Better Than One Alone
“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.”
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
Have you ever had a day when you simply couldn't take it anymore — and he showed up? He didn't do anything extraordinary. He was just there. And somehow that was enough. The writer of Ecclesiastes knew what he was saying: two are better than one. Not because life is easier as a pair — sometimes it's more complicated. But because when one falls, the other can reach out a hand. That's the gift of marriage we sometimes forget when we're only looking at the failures. Your spouse is your companion on the journey. Not your adversary, not your renovation project, not the one responsible for your happiness. Your companion. The one sitting on the same side of the table as you. Treasure that today.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for giving me a companion for life. May I never take for granted the gift of having someone by my side who lifts me up when I fall. May I also be that support for him. Amen.
