Day 45Marriage Devotional

The Marriage That Chooses Forgiveness

And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

Colossians 3:14

We've come to the end of this section on communication and forgiveness. And what Paul places as the capstone over it all is love — the bond that holds all the other virtues together. You can practice listening better, speaking more carefully, forgiving more often — and you'll still fail at all of it sometimes. But when love is at the center, failures don't destroy. They become opportunities to begin again. A marriage that chooses forgiveness isn't a marriage without pain. It's a marriage that has discovered that pain doesn't get to have the last word. That love is stronger than pride, more lasting than hurt, more powerful than any mistake. That's the marriage God dreamed for you. Keep choosing it.

Prayer

Father, clothe our marriage in love — the love that never fails, that endures, that forgives and begins again. When everything else fails, may the love You planted in us be the bond that keeps us together. Amen.
