Day 38 — Marriage Devotional
Words That Heal
“There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.”
Proverbs 12:18
The same organ that wounds can also heal. The tongue can be a sword or medicine — and the choice is yours, in every conversation. In marriage, you hold that power over your spouse in a way no one else does. You know their tender spots. You know where it hurts. And that gives you an enormous responsibility. When you choose words that heal — a genuine compliment, an "I trust you," a "thank you for that" — you become medicine in their life. And the good news is that it comes back. An environment where words heal creates safety, and safety creates openness, and openness creates real intimacy. Start today. Say something good, true, and loving to him — and watch what happens.
Prayer
God, make my mouth an instrument of healing in my marriage. May the words I speak to my spouse today leave them stronger, more confident, and more loved. May I be medicine and not a sword. Amen.
