Day 37Marriage Devotional

Seventy Times Seven

Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

Matthew 18:21-22

Peter thought seven times was generous. Jesus multiplied it by seventy. Not because God doesn't care about what you've suffered, but because He knows that repeated forgiveness isn't weakness — it's supernatural strength. In marriage, you'll need to forgive the same person again and again. The same hurtful way of speaking. The same carelessness. The same failure. And there will come a moment when you're simply tired of forgiving. That's exactly where forgiveness stops being a feeling and becomes a choice of faith. You can't reach seventy times seven in your own strength. But with the Holy Spirit sustaining you, it's possible. Not so that he goes unpunished — but so that you walk free.

Prayer

Lord, I don't have the strength to forgive so many times. But You do. Fill my heart with the mercy I've received from You and don't deserve. Let me forgive my spouse today, and tomorrow, and every time it's needed. Amen.
