Day 18 — Marriage Devotional
The greatest of all
“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”
1 Corinthians 13:13
Everything passes. Seasons pass, plans change, certainties sometimes waver. But Paul says three things remain: faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of these is love. Not February's passion — the love that chooses, that serves, that stays.
In marriage, there's a version of love that begins with butterflies in your stomach and matures into something deeper, quieter, more secure. It's the love that knows how the other likes their coffee without having to ask. That sits in silence together without the silence feeling uncomfortable. That truly forgives, not just in words. If you're in a season where the passion has cooled, don't mistake that for a lack of love — it may be that love is growing up, becoming adult. Tend to it. Water it. This love that remains is the greatest of all the gifts God places in a marriage.
Prayer
God, may the love we build become more and more like the love You have — faithful, deep, enduring. Don't let me forget that this love is worth everything. Amen.
