Day 7 — Peace in Place of Anxiety
Rest, Just for Today
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
There's a tiredness that a bed can't cure. It's the exhaustion of someone who carries everyone else, anticipates every problem, and never switches off their mind. For that kind of tiredness, Jesus offers the sweetest invitation in the Bible: come. Notice what He doesn't say. He doesn't say "fix yourself first," "calm down," "have more faith and then come back." He says: come as you are, weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Rest isn't a reward you earn after you get better; it's what He offers precisely because you can't get better on your own. Anxiety tells you that stopping is dangerous, that if you rest everything will collapse. That's a lie. The world doesn't rest on your watchfulness — God sustains the world, and He never sleeps. Today, just for today, accept the invitation. Stop for five minutes. Close your eyes. Imagine placing everything you've been carrying into the arms of Jesus. There's a lap waiting for you, and it can bear your weight.
Prayer
Jesus, I come weary, just as I am. Take from me the weight I keep insisting on carrying alone, and give rest to my soul. I accept Your rest. Amen.
