Day 59 — Peace in Place of Anxiety
Look at All He Has Done in These Days
“...Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.”
1 Samuel 7:12
Samuel set up a stone and gave it a name: 'Ebenezer,' meaning 'Hitherto hath the Lord helped us.' It was a landmark, a memorial so the people would never forget God's faithfulness. Today, do the same with your own journey. Look back over these nearly sixty days. You made it this far. The days you dreaded, you got through. The nights that seemed impossible, you slept through and woke up on the other side. The problems that kept you up at the start of this book — many of them have already passed, or turned out smaller than fear painted them, or were handled by God in a way you never saw coming. Look at the simple, powerful truth: you are still standing. And it wasn't only by your own strength — it was because 'hitherto hath the Lord helped us.' That's the best remedy for fear of what's still ahead: remembering everything God has already delivered you from. A God this faithful up to now will not abandon you for the rest of the road. Today, raise your own stone. Give this season a name: 'Hitherto, God has helped me.' And trust that he will help you from here on too.
Prayer
Lord, I look back and see: hitherto You have helped me. I made it through what I feared because You were with me. I trust that You will care for me in what's still to come. Amen.
