Day 48Peace in Place of Anxiety

He Neither Slumbers Nor Sleeps

Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

Psalm 121:4

Have you ever stopped to think that there is Someone watching over you who never, ever sleeps? "He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep." While you doze off, God does not doze off. While you rest, He remains on watch. And that completely changes the logic of anxiety. The anxious mind acts as though it needs to stay on guard — as though the instant you let your vigilance down, everything would collapse. That's why you can't relax: you feel that holding the world together is your job, twenty-four hours a day. But the truth is the watchman's post is already filled, and by Someone infinitely more capable, who never blinks. You can rest precisely because God does not rest. Your nighttime worrying isn't protecting anyone — it's only robbing you of sleep, while the true Guard takes care of everything for free. Today, take this step of faith: release the vigilance. Tell your tired mind it's relieved of the night shift, because the Guard who never sleeps has taken the post. You can finally close your eyes.

Prayer

Father, thank You that You never sleep. I can rest because You stand guard. Relieve my mind of a watch that was never mine to keep. Take care of everything for me. Amen.
