Day 43 — Peace in Place of Anxiety
One Step at a Time in His Light
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Psalm 119:105
Have you ever noticed that God almost never shows the whole road at once? You wanted a spotlight lighting up the entire future, so you could see exactly where everything leads. But the Word is described as a "lamp unto my feet" — not a beacon that lights up the horizon, but a light that brightens the ground right in front of you, just enough for the next step. That can feel frustrating if you're anxious and want to see it all. But it's actually a mercy. If God showed you the whole road right now, with every climb and every stumble, you'd be paralyzed with fear. That's why He lights only one step at a time — because that's all you need to walk with Him. Take the next step, and then the next, trusting that the light will keep coming as you go. You weren't made to see the end before you begin; you were made to trust the Guide. Today, stop demanding to see it all. Simply ask: "Lord, what's my next step?" Take that one, and leave the rest in His light.
Prayer
Father, I wanted to see the whole road, but You light only the next step. Help me trust in that. Show me what to do today, and I will walk with You. Amen.
