Day 3 — Peace in Place of Anxiety
Anxiety Adds Nothing
“Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?”
Matthew 6:27
Anxiety makes a promise it never keeps. It whispers that if you worry enough, you'll be able to control what's coming — that running the problem through your mind a thousand times is a way of solving it. Jesus, with all tenderness, dismantles that lie with a question. However much you fret, can you add a single inch to your height? Can you change the past by revisiting it at 3 a.m.? Can you secure tomorrow by rehearsing every possible tragedy? No. Worry adds no time, no health, no solution — it only steals your sleep and your today. That doesn't mean you're weak for feeling it; it means that burden simply doesn't work. Today, when you notice your mind racing ahead, ask yourself Jesus's question: "Will this change anything?" And when you realize it won't, hand the weight back to the One who actually governs tomorrow. Peace begins when you stop trying to carry what doesn't even help.
Prayer
Lord, I admit that my anxiety changes nothing — it only wears me out. Take from me the useless weight of trying to control what only You hold. Amen.
