Day 29Peace in Place of Anxiety

Do Not Be Afraid, Only Believe

Be not afraid, only believe.

Mark 5:36

Jairus had just received the worst news: his daughter had died. And it was at that exact moment, at the height of his despair, that Jesus spoke three words to him: "Be not afraid, only believe." Notice how short and direct they are — Jesus didn't preach a sermon, didn't explain the why. He simply offered a choice. In every moment of affliction, two paths lie open before you: feed the fear or feed the faith. You don't control what happens, but you control which of the two you water. "Only believe" doesn't mean pretending everything is fine; it means holding on to Jesus firmly even when everything screams otherwise. And notice: Jesus says this before he fixes anything. He asks for faith in the dark, before the light appears — because it's exactly that kind of faith that makes room for the miracle. Today, at the very point where fear feels strongest, listen to Jesus saying quietly, just to you: "Be not afraid, only believe." It isn't a demand. It's an invitation to let go of fear's hand and take hold of his.

Prayer

Jesus, in the very place where fear is strongest, I choose to believe. I don't understand everything, but I'm holding Your hand. Help my faith be greater than my fear. Amen.
