Day 30 — Peace in Place of Anxiety
Perfect Love Casts Out Fear
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear:”
1 John 4:18
Much of the fear you feel is born from a secret doubt about God's love. Deep down, anxiety whispers: "What if God leaves you hanging? What if you're not loved enough to be cared for?" That's why the Bible's remedy for fear isn't "try to be braver" — it's love. "Perfect love casteth out fear." When you stand firm in the certainty that you are loved by God in a way that doesn't depend on your performance, fear loses its footing. Think of it this way: a child who knows, without a shadow of a doubt, that her father loves and cares for her sleeps peacefully even through the storm — not because the storm isn't real, but because the love is bigger. You are that child. God's love for you isn't a theory; it's the wall that makes fear retreat. Today, instead of trying to force fear away, do the opposite: draw closer to God's love. The more you fill yourself with that love, the less room is left for fear to live in.
Prayer
Father, the root of my fear is doubting Your love. Fill me with the certainty that I am loved by You, and let that love cast out every fear that grips me. Amen.
