Day 24Peace in Place of Anxiety

Trust Is a Muscle

They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.

Psalm 125:1

Maybe you read all of this and think: "I know I should trust God, but I can't seem to feel that trust." Breathe — trust isn't a feeling that shows up fully formed; it's a muscle that grows stronger with use. No one hands over control once and never worries again. You surrender today, tomorrow the worry comes back, and you surrender again. And again. Every time you choose to trust in spite of fear, that muscle grows a little stronger. Today's verse compares those who trust to a mountain that cannot be shaken. But the mountain wasn't born firm overnight — it was settled over time. Your firmness is built the same way: surrender after surrender, prayer after prayer, day after day. Don't demand a perfect trust of yourself. Only ask of yourself the next step: to trust again today. Little by little, without you even noticing, the peace that seemed impossible will become the ground you stand on. You are building something that cannot be shaken. Keep going.

Prayer

Lord, I am still learning to trust. Strengthen this muscle in me, one day at a time, until I am as firm as the mountain that cannot be shaken. Amen.
