Day 25 — Peace in Place of Anxiety
A Peace the World Cannot Give
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.”
John 14:27
The world offers peace too — but it's a peace that depends. Peace when the bill is paid, when the test results come back good, when everyone is well, when the problem has finally passed. It's a fragile peace, held hostage by circumstances, that vanishes the moment something goes wrong. Jesus offers something else. "Not as the world giveth, give I unto you." His peace doesn't depend on everything falling into place first. It's a peace that arrives in the middle of the storm, that sits with you in the hospital waiting room, that holds your hand before any solution appears. The world says, "Be at peace once the problem is over." Jesus says, "Have my peace now, in the middle of it." That's why his peace lasts — because it isn't tied to what changes, but to the One who doesn't change. Today, stop waiting for every piece to fall into place before you finally breathe easy. Ask Jesus for the peace only he gives: the kind that doesn't wait for the storm to end before it exists.
Prayer
Jesus, I don't want the world's fragile peace, the kind that depends on everything going right. I want Your peace — the kind that comes even in the middle of the struggle. Leave it with me today. Amen.
