Day 23 — Peace in Place of Anxiety
He Carries You in His Arms
“He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.”
Isaiah 40:11
You demand of yourself that you be strong all the time. Strong for your children, for work, to endure whatever comes. And then, when your strength runs out and you feel as fragile as a little lamb, guilt creeps in, as if weakness were a sin. But look at today's verse's image. God is described not as a general demanding endurance, but as a shepherd who gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart. He has a special care precisely for the most fragile of the flock — the young ones who can't keep pace, the ones who tire first. When you are in your most fragile days, you are not a burden to God; you are exactly the little lamb He insists on carrying in His arms. Weakness doesn't remove you from the flock — it brings you closer to the Shepherd's chest. Today, when you feel you have no strength left, don't demand more of yourself. Let yourself be carried. There's a shepherd's embrace waiting for you, and He doesn't think you're too heavy.
Prayer
Father, today I feel fragile, and that's all right. Gather me in Your arms like the tired little lamb and carry me close to Your heart. In You I rest. Amen.
