Day 21 — Peace in Place of Anxiety
Peace Doesn't Come From Your Plans
“There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.”
Proverbs 19:21
Maybe you're the kind of person who tries to overcome anxiety by planning. If I organize everything, foresee every scenario, have a plan B, C, and D, then I'll finally feel at ease. But have you noticed that peace never actually arrives? You barely finish one plan before your mind finds a new gap to worry about. That's because peace never lived in your plans — it lived in God. You can and should plan, but your security cannot live in the perfection of the plan, because no plan covers every variable of life. Today's verse is honest: you make many plans, but it is the Lord's counsel that stands. Instead of frustrating you, this should bring you relief. It means you can rest even without having everything tied up, because above all your plans there is a God who leads. Today, plan with wisdom, but anchor your heart not in the plan — but in the One who remains when plans change.
Prayer
Father, I make my plans, but I do not trust in my plans — I trust in You. When everything changes, remind me that Your counsel stands. In it, I rest. Amen.
