Day 20 — Peace in Place of Anxiety
Let God Be God
“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Psalm 46:10
Four words that change everything: be still, and know. Anxiety lives in agitation — the mind racing, the body tense, the feeling that you need to do something, anything, right now. But God calls you to the opposite of what fear demands. He doesn't say "run faster," "fix everything," "take control"; He says "be still, and know that I am God." There's a rest that only comes when you remember who God is and who you are. You are not the one responsible for holding up the universe — that position is already filled, and the One who fills it never sleeps on the job. Being still doesn't mean doing nothing; it means stopping acting out of panic and starting to act out of trust. It's letting your shoulders drop, breathing, and letting God be God in your life — which means you stop trying to be God yourself. Today, in the middle of the rush, find one minute of stillness. Sit down. Breathe. And slowly repeat: "Be still, my soul. He is God. I don't need to be."
Prayer
Lord, I make myself still before You. I stop trying to hold everything together and remember that You are God, and I am not. Rest my restless heart in Your sovereignty. Amen.
