Day 17Peace in Place of Anxiety

The Birds Don't Plant, and He Feeds Them

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Matthew 6:26

When Jesus taught about anxiety, He didn't tell anyone to open a theology book — He told them to look at a little bird. Birds don't stock up food for the whole year, don't build up reserves, don't lose sleep foreseeing winter's scarcity. And yet, every single day they eat, because the Father takes care of them. Jesus then asks the question that dismantles distress: if God sustains a sparrow, how much more you, who are worth so much more? Anxiety keeps telling you that you're on your own, that if you don't foresee and provide for everything, no one will. But you are not an orphan in an indifferent universe. You are the son or daughter of a Father who feeds even the birds. This isn't an excuse not to work or not to prepare — it's the remedy for the distress that remains after you've already done your part. Today, when you look up at the sky, let the birds preach you a sermon: if there is care for them, there is more than enough care for you.

Prayer

Father, if You care even for the little birds, then You care for me. Take from me the distress of feeling alone. I am Your son or daughter, and You provide. Amen.
