Day 14Peace in Place of Anxiety

Entrust Your Path and Rest

Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Psalm 37:5

Entrusting is different from giving up. Giving up is throwing everything into the air and no longer caring. Entrusting is exactly because you care that you place it in the hands of Someone who cares for it better than you do. There's a huge difference between the two, and anxiety tries to convince you that letting go is the same as abandoning. It isn't. When you commit your way to the Lord, you're not saying "whatever happens, happens"; you're saying "You take care of this better than I do." Notice the promise that follows: and he shall bring it to pass. Entrusting doesn't end with you empty-handed — it ends with God acting. What leaves your hands doesn't fall to the ground; it falls into His hands. Today, take that situation you've been trying to solve for weeks, turning it over from every angle with no solution in sight, and make a gesture of faith: hand it over. Say it in prayer, by name and all: "Lord, this path is Yours now." And then do the hardest thing for an anxious mind — rest, trusting that He will act.

Prayer

Lord, I commit into Your hands this path that troubles me so much. It isn't giving up — it's trust. I trust, and I believe that You will act. Amen.
