Day 18A Man After God's Own Heart

The Way Out God Promises

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

1 Corinthians 10.13

Every temptation carries a lie: that this time you won't be able to resist, that the pressure is too great, that there's no way out. This verse tears down that lie with a clear promise: no temptation that comes to you is beyond what others face; God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear — with the temptation, He also prepares the way of escape. Notice the text doesn't promise temptation will disappear; it promises there's always a way out, even when it seems like there isn't. Maybe your struggle is with an addiction, a wrong attraction, a habit you've tried to quit before and fallen back into. The shame of those cycles can make you think you're a lost cause. But God's faithfulness doesn't depend on your track record of failures — it stands firm, offering a way out with every new temptation, not just the first time. Often the way out is simple and concrete: leave the room, call someone, pray out loud, close the tab, tell the truth to someone who can help. Today, if temptation hits, actively look for the way out God has already prepared — it exists, even if you haven't seen it yet.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for being faithful even when I fail. Help me see the way out You've prepared before every temptation. Give me the strength to take it, instead of giving in one more time. Amen.
