Day 15The Proverbs 31 Woman

The Wisdom of Planning Ahead

She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

Proverbs 31:16

The virtuous woman is prudent: she thinks before she acts, weighs her options, plans ahead, and plants today what she will harvest tomorrow. There's a practical wisdom in this that many "spiritual" people dismiss, but that God values. Trusting God doesn't mean not planning; it means planning with Him. You can look at your resources — your time, your money, your energy — and make wise decisions, without acting on impulse or out of fear. Prudence isn't a lack of faith; it's faith with its feet on the ground. But be careful not to fall into the opposite extreme of wanting to control everything: plan, yes, but with an open heart, knowing that "a man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps." Today, bring your plans before God. Think, organize, take the next wise step — and let Him direct the rest.

Prayer

Lord, give me the prudence to plan and the humility to hand my plans over to You. Help me use wisely the time and resources You've given me. I propose the way, but You direct my steps. Amen.
