Day 67 — Young Woman of Faith
Doing, Not Just Hearing
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
James 1:22
It's much easier to consume good content than to put it into practice. You listen to an inspiring sermon, read a beautiful devotional, like a verse on social media — and walk away exactly the same as you were before. Not because the message was weak, but because it stayed only in your ears.
James is direct: hearing without doing is deceiving yourself. It's like looking in the mirror, seeing your hair is a mess, and walking away without fixing it.
The question isn't what you've heard from God. The question is what you've done with what you heard.
Maybe He spoke to you about forgiving someone and you're still carrying the hurt. About not lying in small things anymore, and you still do. About tending to a relationship, and you forgot the very next day.
Today is a good day to go back to those messages and ask: what has God told me that I still haven't done?
Obedience doesn't have to be heroic. Sometimes it's just a text, a conversation, a simple decision. But it's what moves things forward.
Prayer
Father, I don't want to be a hearer only. Give me courage to act on what You've already told me. May Your Word not stop at my ears — may it reach my hands. Amen.
