Day 66Young Woman of Faith

Integrity in the Dark

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

Daniel 1:8

What you do when no one is watching says far more about you than what you do in front of people.

Daniel was a young man — like you — in a foreign land, far from home, with no family nearby. He had every reason to give in. But he purposed in his heart not to defile himself. Before anything even happened, he had already decided on the inside.

That's what integrity is: an internal decision that comes before the external situation. It's not discovering you're strong in the moment of pressure. It's already knowing who you are before the pressure arrives.

That changes everything. Because when temptation comes, you don't have to deliberate from scratch. You already know where you stand.

You can practice this right now, in your studies, in your relationships, on social media. In the moments when only you and God know what's really happening.

Character is who you are in the dark. And Daniel proved that young people can have a character like rock. So can you.

Prayer

God, I want to be the same person in front of everyone and when I'm alone. Help me to purpose in my heart, like Daniel, that I will not give in to what doesn't please You. Amen.
